I place a heavy rock on the handle. Seems to work well.

You can loosen the hinge a bit so it drops slightly when you let go, but still not too loose where it doesn’t hold itself up. It’ll sit on the Joetisserie well enough. No way to completely seal it anyway because of the opening for the rod.

For my first use, I was trying to find the best way for that. But I noticed by placing the Joetiserie really close to the front and very well centered for the other part was good enough.
You need to be good before placing your meat, or it’s a bit painful to move
